So Oscar, you’ve already reached double digits and been with us 10 days. We’d love to know, what made you make the switch to Firemind?

I’d been looking to get back into the consulting world, and it was clear as day that Firemind offered the perfect opportunities for me to satisfy that urge. I’d also been drawn in by Ajish’s vision for the company and the directions it was taking to become leaders in particular AWS fields.

Where have you worked before coming to Firemind and what did you specialise in?

I have a detailed background as a Data Engineer, most recently working with Education First (EF) using Databricks, DBT and Snowflake. Before that I worked with Inawisdom, building a data warehouse for a number of their EPOS providers. Finally, I worked for a number of years as a BI Data Engineer for ElectraLink, managing the AWS Infrastructure for the energy and management insight team.

I’m fortunate enough to have secured a number of specialties within my previous roles, the key ones being:

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
• AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty
• AWS Certified Database – Specialty (DBS)
• AWS Certified Big Data – Specialty

What will be your main goals/objectives whilst working at Firemind?

I’m actually looking to develop my DevOps knowledge and understanding, culminating in taking the DevOps Professional certification in the future. I’ll also be a key member of the AI/ML team, assisting with model builds, implementation and guidance for customer projects.

Some exciting plans there Oscar. Finally, what do you get up to outside of Data Engineering and expanding on your AWS knowledge and skill set?

I’m a keen football fan, taking the time to watch both UK and American games when I get the opportunity.
