We are delighted to welcome Rob Gehring as Firemind’s Head of Sales. In this newly created position, Rob will help support our growing client list and provide a higher level of engagement as we continue to expand.
We spoke to Rob earlier to find out more about his past, his background and his plans in this new role.
As you may tell from the name, Rob is Dutch born with a rich educational background in Aviation. He studied at the University of Amsterdam, receiving a bachelor’s with honours in aviation engineering. He moved to the UK back in 2014, where he received a Master of Science in Air Transport Management at Cranfield University.
Rob’s background in Aviation has led to over 8 years’ experience in multiple disciplines such as engineering, continuous improvement, change management as well as sales and customer service. These disciplines have seen him flourish in roles such as a Field Engineer in the petrochemical industry as well as a Continuous Improvement Manager for London City Airport. Most recently, Rob has been a Sales and Customer Service Director at Forrester Research. It was during his time at Forrester that he became a vital component in the launch of their first SaaS product.
To match an impressive background in aviation, management and sales roles, Rob has been able to establish himself as a leader in sales best practices and process improvements, mastering skills like Lean Six Sigma to a black belt level.
This training has allowed him to develop the necessary skills to solve complex and cross-functional problems in a structured, strategic way, ensuring they do not return. With his move into Firemind and the intricate world of AWS, Rob has already begun his training, logging over 20 hours in his first weeks and receiving accreditations in AWS Cloud Economics, Business and Technical knowledge.
He understands the value of bolstering technical knowledge in evaluating the needs of the customer and effectively communicating how Firemind’s solutions create value to them and his team. Rob looks forward to taking his Cloud Practitioner and Solution Architect examination in the months to come.
We asked Rob what his main drive will be at Firemind and his passions that will help deliver on that drive:
“Whilst at Firemind, I will be laser-focused on driving growth and customer-obsession across all areas of the business. I’m thrilled to work with customers on their business transformation opportunities and challenges leveraging AWS.
The first engagements with our customers, AWS stakeholders and all the people within Firemind have far exceeded my expectations. I really look forward to being an enabler for success for all these brilliant and kind individuals.”
Outside of work, Rob is somewhat of a coffee lover (having invested in his own barista machine and even bringing in his own speciality pods on his first day). He competes in an 11 aside football team and enjoys visiting art fairs and markets to go ‘treasure hunting’. You can find a plethora of unique items with a flavour of rarity in his home (for example an antique brass diving helmet that makes a regular appearance at all parties). We’re excited to have Rob join our team and look forward to a strengthened sales department going forward.
